Guests at Walz's $150,000 per ticket fundraiser spectacular included Chris Rock, Joy Behar: report

-

President Joe Biden's “popular behavior” aside, the Democratic Party's elitism shined through for its vice presidential nominee at a celebrity-attended Hamptons fundraiser for up to $150,000 a ticket.

This year's continued rollout of the basement campaign model included Vice President Kamala Harris eschewing the press and unscripted moments, instead delivering repeated speeches to crowds drawn by big-name artists. The reliance on celebrity donors was on display in the Hamptons on Thursday as his running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, squared off with the likes of Chris Rock and Joy Behar.

Taking place at the Southampton home of Stuart Butterfield and Jen Rubio, CEOs of Slack and Away respectively, Page Six informed that the comedian and co-host of ABC's “The View” was among those attending the party where tickets alone cost up to $150,000.

Although the outlet indicated that a limited number of tickets were available for $6,600, the New York Post had informed that the low entry price was $50,000. For a photo shoot with Walz and inclusion in the “VIP reception”, attendees had to cough up no less than $75,000.

The event, where Rock was said to spend most of his time with former “Saturday Night Live” producer Marci Klein, came weeks after Biden faced a rowdy crowd just days after his disastrous debate performance. He, too, had tried to present himself as an average American with a Waffle House photo shoot before fleeing to a celebrity fundraiser in the Hamptons only to have some express concerns about the viability of his campaign and his money.

Entertainment for the fundraiser was provided by Mumford & Sons, the London-based folk-rock band who had separate ways with founding member Winston Marshall years earlier. Cancel culture came for lead guitarist and banjo player to publicly announce that he was reading investigative reporter Andy Ngô's book “Unmasked: Inside Antifa's Radical Plan to Destroy Democracy.”

“Congratulations @MrAndyNgo. Finally had time to read your important book. You are a brave man,” the musician wrote, sparking a strong reaction on social media at the time.

Since leaving the band, Marshall has remained outspoken about his beliefs and rejected elitists like California Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D) during a Oxford Union Debate at the beginning of 2024. “'Populism' has become a word used as a synonym for 'racist'. We've heard “ethnonationalist”, we have “mustache”, we have “hillbilly”, “redneck”, we have “deplorable”. Elites use it to show their contempt for ordinary people.”

After referencing a shift in former President Barack Obama's use of the term and highlighting selective outrage over the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol breach, but little consideration for the 2020 BLM riots, he went on to state, “Today, especially in America, the globalist left has become the establishment. I guess if Mrs. Pelosi had taken that side of the motion, she would have argued herself out of a job.”

“Ladies and gentlemen, populism is the voice of the voiceless,” Marshall said. “The real threat to democracy is from the elites.”

Page Six reported that while Harris herself currently has no events announced in the Hamptons, but was expected to attend a New York City fundraiser in the fall, her husband, Doug Emhoff joined Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo at an event in August. 31.
