We're used to Democrats voting in lockstep and rehashing party lines at every opportunity. Still, cracks are forming in the liberal united front, and it's largely due to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's relentless transportation of illegal immigrants to so-called “sanctuary cities” like Nova York, Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago and Washington. d.c
Even mainstream media can't ignore what NBC news calls for “a shift in the immigration debate” among Democrats, some of whom are “calling on the president of their own party to do more to contain what they call a crisis.”
“Texas Gov. Greg Abbott knows he's wreaking havoc by sending busloads of migrants from his border towns to sanctuary cities,” writes Natasha Korecki for NBC News. “The signs are obvious.”
“New York says it's at breaking point. Chicago is running out of time and space before a harsh winter sets in. Washington, DC says its housing is maxed out. Other cities, like Denver, they have declared states of emergency,” he explains. “But if Abbott has made one thing clear, it's this: he's not stopping.”

According to Abbott's office, the governor has put about 75,500 migrants on buses in Texas and sent them to six Democratic-led cities.
Abbott has repeatedly blamed President Joe Biden's lax border policies for the sight of migrants overwhelming his state's small border towns. His transport with the migrants, he said, was an act of desperation.
“Along the way, however, a different phenomenon has taken hold: Democrats are sounding the alarm on immigration, with leaders of sanctuary cities and blue states thousands of miles from the southern border now warning that their situation is dire,” Korecki writes. “Democrats are asking the White House for more funding and to take control of domestic operations to ensure that migrants are sent to areas that have the capacity to receive them.”
“It all adds up to a shift in the immigration debate, where Democrats are calling on their own party's president to do more to contain what they call a crisis,” he continues. “And this winter could make it worse.”
How BizPac Review has reported, Arizona Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs signed an executive order Friday criticizing the Biden administration and deploying the National Guard to Arizona's southern border with Mexico.
“Once again, the federal government is refusing to do its job to secure our border and keep our communities safe,” Hobbs said in a statement.

And as negotiations continue over the national supplemental package, several progressive Democrats have warned Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (DN.Y.) against giving in to Republican demands for border security concessions.
“Yes [Schumer] thinks he can send us home for the weekend, quietly give in to Republicans' anti-immigrant demands while no one's watching, and then ambush Democrats expecting us to vote yes with a smile, is TERRIBLY WRONG,” Senator Bob Menendez ( DN. J.) smoked on Thursday.
“[Schumer] and those Democrats who are contemplating these proposals must understand that these Trumpian policies will do nothing to address our challenges at the border and will only exacerbate the problem,” he said. “Immigration advocates should speak up, hell is NOT the message.”

As Democrats square off against each other, Renae Eze, a spokeswoman for Abbott, told NBC News that the bus won't stop just because winter descends on cities like Chicago or New York.
“Until President Biden does his job and secures the border,” Eze said, “Texas will go on [bussing] migrants to sanctuary cities to provide much-needed relief to our overwhelmed border cities.”
The issue, according to Korecki, could have a serious impact on Democrats in the next election.
“Not only are Democrats fighting each other, there are signs that the party is losing public faith that it can handle the issue better than Republicans,” Korecki writes. “A September NBC poll showed that 50% of registered voters surveyed said the Republican Party was better at dealing with border security, compared with 20% of voters who chose Democrats. And a 18% more registered voters in this poll chose Republicans over Democrats when asked who they thought was better at dealing with immigration overall.”
Former communications official John Wittman, who served in the Abbott administration, says the governor's strategy is having an “impact” on the immigration debate.
“There's no doubt that the bus strategy is having an impact,” he told NBC News. “Suddenly, there seems to be real bipartisan support for securing the border, which there wasn't before [bussing] the strategy that the governor implemented, I don't think anybody saw it coming.”
“Who would have thought,” he asked, “[New York City Mayor] Would Eric Adams ask the Biden administration to do something about the border?
