Dozens of workers at Google’s news division were told this week they were losing their jobs as the company continues to downsize at a time of economic uncertainty, according to a report.
Between 40 and 45 Google News employees were laid off, a spokesman for the Alphabet Workers Union told CNBC.
The Alphabet-owned search engine has also cut headcount at Verily, the health analytics subsidiary, as well as Waymo, the robotaxi unit, according to the Information.
It’s unclear how many people were fired from Verily and Waymo.
