In a touching display of compassion and heroism, two State Farm agents from Arkansas and Tennessee, Bob Gist and Brad Carlisle, along with local fishing guide Jordan Chrestman, rescued 38 hunting dogs from Grenada Lake in Mississippi during a fishing trip. The canine rescue developed when the men heard the distant barking of dogs and saw the animals struggling in the water.

Gist, recalling the scene, stated: “We're amazed because there are dogs everywhere, and they're all going in different directions because they can't see the bank on either side anymore. And they're all hunting dogs; we can see that clearly because they have expensive GPS radio collars.” The men acted quickly, dragging dogs into their boat to prevent them from drowning, and Chrestman, a local fishing guide, was key to their successful rescue efforts.
The owners of the dogs were relieved to have their hunting companions back in their arms. Chrestman refused any reward for his part in the rescue, earning the admiration and praise of Gist, who described the young guide as the true hero of the day. “That kid had the presence of mind to know, 'If we don't do something, there's going to be 38 dead dogs here.' And he saved them, I mean we all threw them away, but this kid is the hero here.” Gist emphasized.
