The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has sent a strongly worded letter to the state of Texas demanding access by January 17 at the US-Mexico border to land seized by the Star State lonely at Eagle Pass, or DHS is ordering Texas to cease and desist from blocking CBP access to and around Shelby Park, and to “remove all barriers to access” by the end of the day on January 17.
According to DHS General Counsel Jonathan E. Meyer, who sent the letter to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, Texas' actions to block the federal government's access to land in Eagle Pass “are clearly unconstitutional and are actively disrupting the operations of the federal government.”
“We demand that Texas cease and desist its efforts to block Border Patrol access to and around the Shelby Park area and remove all barriers to access to the Shelby Park area,” Meyer wrote.
“Recent actions by the State of Texas have impeded Border Patrol operations. These actions conflict with the Border Patrol's authority and duties under federal law and are preempted by the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution “.
