The wife of a former college football star has been arrested on allegations she conspired with her Bahamian lover and another man to murder him.
Lindsay Shiver, of Thomasville, Georgiais in jail in the Bahamas after local police accused her of orchestrating a plot to kill her estranged husband Robert Shiver, according to the Thomasville Times-Enterprise.
The 36-year-old man was arrested along with his lover Terrance Bethel, 28, and alleged hitman Farron Newbold, 29.
Police discovered the plot to kill former Auburn University football player Robert, 38, on July 16 while investigating a bar break-in, and said they found WhatsApp messages on the cellphone of the suspect discussing the conspiracy.
All three were flown to the Bahamian capital, Nassau, from Guana after they were arrested. They appeared in court on Friday but were not required to enter a statement.

Robert Shiver was drafted by the hometown Atlanta Falcons in 2009, but was cut before the season started.
The family’s sprawling residence in Thomasville, Georgia, valued at $2.5 million, has seven bedrooms.
The Shiver family has a home in the Bahamas, where Lindsay is accused of starting an affair with Bethel, a source close to the investigation said.
Robert then found out about the relationship between his wife and the 28-year-old and filed for divorce, they added.
A court document revealed the couple was scheduled to appear in Thomas County Superior Court on July 20, where counterclaims were filed, but details were not immediately available.
She then orchestrated a plan to kill her estranged husband with Bethel and enlisted the help of an alleged Newbold hitman, authorities said.
“On July 16, 2023 in Abaco, while they were together, with a common purpose they agreed to commit a crime, namely the murder of Richard Shiver,” a police report said.
Police learned of the plan after reports of a robbery at Grabber’s Bar and Grill.
WhatsApp messages were found on the suspect’s phone detailing the murder plot.
Lindsay, Bethel and Newbold were later arrested and taken to Nassau where they were imprisoned.

The trio appeared in court before Acting Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley on Friday.
They were not required to enter a statement and are being held in jail until they return to court on October 5.
Robert and Lindsay met in a fitness class at Auburn University in August 2007, according to their Instagram account.
“So thankful for that fitness class 13 years ago that brought us together and all the love, laughter and life we’ve created since then! Love you baby. Cheers to many more,” she wrote in a 2020 post along with a collection of photos, including photos from their wedding day.
The couple has three children together with the youngest just four years old.

But they let him go in the first few roster cuts before the 2009 season.
