Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is facing impeachment calls and will be investigated over allegations of misconduct after the Georgia Senate approved legislation creating a special committee.
“The bill, known as SR 465, was introduced by Senator Greg Dolezal, Georgia Senate Transportation Committee Chair and Principal Deputy, and would establish the Senate Special Investigative Committee to examine whether Willis has any possible related conflict of interest. to his hiring of special counsel Nathan Wade,” Fox 5 Atlanta reported Friday.

The creation of the committee does not need approval from the state House or Republican Gov. Brian Kemp. The state Senate voted 30-19 to create the task force to investigate the tax raid leading the voter fraud case against former President Donald Trump and more than a dozen co-defendants.
The bill notes that the allegations against Willis, if proven true, would “discredit her and her office” and “undermine public confidence” in the criminal justice system. The text of the bill also states that it “will raise significant doubt about the validity of the charges that your office has presented in relation to the 2020 presidential election.”
And Rep. Charlice Byrd introduced HR 872 to remove the DA.
“Fani Willis has a list of potential conflicts that make her unworthy and unfit to serve as Fulton County District Attorney,” Byrd said in a news release. “Someone elected to this position is expected to uphold the law and not use their position for political gain.”

“The new committee could issue subpoenas and require people to testify under oath, powers that no other Georgia legislative committee routinely uses.” Fox 5 he noted, adding that he also “cannot directly sanction” Willis.
The vote followed the announcement earlier this month that the US House Judiciary Committee is also investigating Nathan Wade, the Fulton County special prosecutor who allegedly had a “romantic” relationship with Willis.

In a post on Truth Social Friday, Trump criticized Willis and the case against him, adding that an apology should be made.
“Fani Willis should be immediately forced to drop her corrupt PERSECUTION of me and 19 other innocent people,” she wrote.
“Her boyfriend/lover went to the White House on numerous occasions to coordinate her 'Trump hunt' and charged huge fees to do so,” the former president continued.
“I did nothing wrong and as far as I know neither did anyone else. This case must be dropped with apologies to all those who were treated so unfairly!” Trump wrote.
