The Trump family's takedown of a former White House spokesman wouldn't sit well with some Fox News colleagues calling for an end to “bullying.”
During the 2024 election cycle, former President Donald Trump has remained openly critical of the cable news network on which he regularly appeared. While many tips had focused on air time for other candidates and considering some unfavorable polls, a new avenue of attack opened up for the former White House press secretary , Kayleigh McEnany, after the New Hampshire primary.
A tip from the aide-turned-Fox News host had drawn the ire of the former president, and thus his followers, prompting a social media user to ask a question comparing McEnany to the lawyer of Trump, Alina Habba.
“Who thinks Alina Habba was more loyal to Trump than Kayleigh McEnany?” came the query that drew a response from the president's second son, Eric Trump, who captioned the post: “Not even that close! @AlinaHabba”

Although it had garnered more than 14,000 likes since it was posted Friday afternoon, the investigation into McEnany's alleged lapse in loyalty left some Fox News colleagues calling for a response from Trump.
Just minutes after Eric Trump had weighed in, Fox News contributor and American Enterprise Institute senior fellow Marc Thiessen chimed in: “Oh my god, leave @kayleighmcenany alone. He went out day after day and he defend skillfully from the podium. He doesn't deserve this bullying.”
Oh my god, go away @kayleighmcenany ground. He went out day in and day out and ably defended it from the podium. He doesn't deserve this bullying. https://t.co/RuDf9RZ9NK

Showing support for their colleagues, Fox News Chief Political Analyst Brit Hume and Fox News Radio Political Analyst Josh Kraushaar shared Thiessen's comment stemming from his unsolicited advice to on the Trump campaign through Tuesday and the night of the primaries.
Speaking of the need to have broad appeal in the run-up to the general election to wrest control of the White House from the left, McEnany had encouraged the president to mind his tone, especially in light of some troubling data about the independent support of the Granite State.
“… when you look at the Republican Party, 7 out of 10 Nikki Haley voters said 'I wouldn't vote for Trump.' There was a Des Moines Register poll. 43% said no, they wouldn't vote for Trump,” he said McEnany. “If I'm Trump, I sit down and focus exclusively on the general election. I take the position of a presumptive candidate. I focus on number one, uniting the party and number two, winning the independents.”
Repeating almost the same message throughout the night prompted Trump to take to Truth Social to label his former spokesperson a Republican in Name Only (RINO), as he wrote, “I don't need any advice from RINO Kayleigh McEnany on Fox. I just had a GIANT VICTORY over a candidate who failed miserably, 'Birdbrain', and he's telling me what I can do better. Save your advice for Nikki!”
