Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett said Hunter Biden would never testify before House committees investigating the Biden family's foreign business dealings.
Hunter Biden agreed comply with a subpoena issued by the committees Friday after previously challenging the summons Jarrett said the letter from Hunter Biden's attorney, Abbe Lowell, indicated Hunter Biden's strategy.
“It's a pretense, a farce. Hunter Biden is pretending today through his lawyer, oh, wow, yeah, I'll answer the questions now,” Jarrett told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “He's not going to, he's going to take the fifth. I was always going to take the fifth. There is too much incriminating evidence and he is in criminal danger, so if he lies when faced with evidence of influence peddling and there is a lot of it, he would be charged with perjury. If he tells the truth, he gets even more involved. So I think that was always the plan, so we do a series of stunts, we decline the deposition. We're going to taunt the Republicans in a public hearing that the Democrats are going to make a crater.”
I WILL SEE:
“[T]on November 8 and 9, 2023, the deposition subpoenas for Mr. Biden and the contempt resolutions passed by your committees on January 10, 2024, based on those subpoenas, were and are legally invalid,” Lowell wrote in the letter .” You have not explained why you are not interested in transparency and the American people witnessing the full and complete testimony of Mr. Biden in a public hearing. If he issues a proper new subpoena, now that there is a properly authorized impeachment investigation, Mr. Biden will comply for a hearing or deposition. We will accept this subpoena on Mr. Biden's behalf.”
Jarrett noted both the timing of Lowell's letter, days before the a vote scheduled for January 17 of the full House of Representatives on a resolution holding Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress and specific language in the letter. Hunter Biden has been charged with several counts of violating tax laws California i Delaware. Biden also faces three felonies weapon loads in Delaware.
“The timing reveals the scam,” Jarrett said. “Today's offer effectively nullifies Joe Biden's DOJ effort to prosecute his son for contempt. Don't give them the excuse. Issue another subpoena tomorrow and be done with it.”
“It doesn't matter, Hunter Biden is not going to testify, you can see that in his lawyer's letter,” Jarrett said. “In the end, look at it closely. It says it will comply for a hearing or deposition. It doesn't say it will testify. Compliance is not testifying.”
