Former CNN employee Brian Stelter complains that Jesse Watters is the new ‘prime-time extremist’ at post-Tucker Fox

-

Arguably the most insufferable extremist in mainstream media joined forces with the most ridiculous extremist in mainstream media to call Fox News’ Jesse Watters, host of “Jesse Watters Primetime,” the new “extremist in chief audience” of the conservative chain.

Fired CNN chief media correspondent Brian Stelter joined MSNBC’s Joy Reid on Friday’s edition of “The ReidOut” where, despite two wars, rising crime, crippling inflation and mounting evidence that President Biden accepted foreign bribes, Fox News was the talk of the town.

As an example of “post-Tucker” Fox News, Reid played for Stelter a now-viral clip of Watters on “The Five” declaring “we’ve had it” with Arab Americans and the Muslim world.

Reid, who once claimed on TikTok that “Republicans’ only true cult is guns,” asked Stelter, who once implied that Republicans deserve to be censured because “Republicans, conservatives, are substantially more likely to share misinformation or fake news than Democrats,” if extremism on Fox is “a bottom-up thing?”

“Is that what the public wants and that’s how Fox serves it,” he asked, “or are they engineering this kind of necrophilic attitude toward American culture and division?”

“In the Roger Ailes era, it was top to bottom,” Stelter replied. “But now, like you said, it’s bottom-up. It’s audience-driven now. The audience is in charge, which is a scary prospect sometimes, even though I love our viewers right now, Joy.”

So to be clear, Joy Reid wondered if Fox News sees both American culture and “divisiveness” as corpses it wants to have sex with, and Brian Stelter thinks it’s not Fox News it’s Fox News. spectators who feel that way, unlike MSNBC viewers, who are awesome.

And Jesse Watters is the “extremist”.

“Jesse Watters has taken over as Fox’s extremist,” Stelter said. “They think they’re, quote, ‘respecting the public,’ and that’s the quote that comes up over and over again in the email treasury of 2020. They think they’re respecting the public by giving them what they want, but really it’s a lack of respect, and you know what? It hurts the GOP.”

“Look what happened with Tuesday’s off-year election,” he continued. “I would argue that Fox sometimes hurts the Republican Party it thinks it’s helping, and that’s an interesting dynamic for 2024.”

Neither Reid nor Stelter impressed users on X.

One exasperated user simply asked the “fat boy” Stelter to “shut up.”
