Former BBC main presenter Huw Edwards has been loaded by London's Metropolitan Police Service on three counts of making indecent images of children.
Edwards, who was one of the BBC's biggest names, resigned in July 2023 on health grounds after being suspended.

The charges relate to crimes that allegedly took place between December 2020 and April 2022 and involve images shared on WhatsApp.
Edwards is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday. He is accused of possessing six Category A images, 12 Category B photographs and 19 Category C photographs. If found guilty, he could face up to six months in prison.
Allegations about Edwards' behavior became front-page news in July 2023, with his wife Vicky Flind remarking that he “suffered from serious mental health problems”.
The father of five had been admitted to a hospital. Despite this, Edwards himself has not publicly commented on the allegations.
Edwards was one of the station's highest-paid stars, with an annual salary of more than $565,000.
He was the main presenter of the BBC's evening news and was responsible for the network's coverage of Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in 2022.
The police have urged both the media and the public to be cautious with the information that is shared on social networks, so that it does not affect future proceedings.
