Fmr GOP representative expresses fear that his 5-year-old son will have to live through Trump's second term

Former Republican Rep. David Jolly expressed on MSNBC Wednesday that he fears his 5-year-old daughter will have to live through a second term of former President Donald Trump.

Appearing on “Deadline: White House,” Jolly spoke with MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace about how Harris' campaign is gaining new momentum. swing state polls show his lead over Trump. “That's what makes this kind of impenetrability for Donald Trump. There are enough people who see the former president as divisive, have fatigue, do not agree with his value system, take his threat to real democracy. But there is also a coalition now, this is 2024 and not 2016, that understands that under the Biden-Harris administration there were no dramatic progressive changes in the country,” Jolly said. “If anything, an effort was made to build an economy for all people, access to health care and education for all, representing the United States on the world stage with decency and strength. They might look at it and say, 'Look, I don't know what kind of ideology this is, but I'm not really offended.' But deep down, I really think the problem is Donald Trump.''

Former Rep. David Jolly announced his departure from the Republican Party in 2018 after serving in Florida's 13th congressional district, seconds in Florida politics.
