A Florida resident has been hailed a hero by police after he killed his wife's attacker with a 7-inch garden knife. The incident happened Thursday at an Avon Park residence, prompting authorities from the Highlands County Sheriff's Office to respond to a call of a violent confrontation. Lindsey Glenn, a 62-year-old ex-convict with a criminal record of a dozen crimes, devised a plan to trick an elderly couple into letting him into their home on Joe Hilton Street.
Reports indicate that Glenn initially gained entry through a ruse. When he was allowed inside, Glenn pulled out a firearm and shot the victim in the face, causing serious injuries. The resident, who saw his wife being shot, wasted no time and immediately grabbed a garden knife. The husband stabbed Glenn repeatedly with the 7-inch blade, eventually killing him.

The injured victim stumbled out of her home and onto her next-door neighbor's porch, where she could get help. She was then taken to a trauma center, where she is currently in stable condition. The male victim, on the other hand, was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries and was later released, according to the police in a statement.
“Once armed with the knife, he went to work with Mr Lindsey Glenn. Suspect Lindsey Glenn was ultimately cut into pieces and was very dead by the time deputies were able to reach him.” – Sheriff Paul Blackman of the Highlands County Sheriff's Office
Blackman also praised the actions of the male victim, who quickly and bravely defended his wife and home. The sheriff expressed his condolences to the assaulted couple, noting that they had lived through a traumatic experience, with the hope of the victim's speedy and complete recovery.
Glenn, previously convicted of burglary and theft, had served at least six previous prison terms, authorities said. The investigation into the aforementioned event is ongoing.
