“So my officer went out to affect the arrest of an individual who broke and stole parts of our fencing here, a large part of our fencing, and as he approached the suspect, he was violently charged with the 'shoulder of the suspect, who hit him. down,” Doyle said at a press conference Saturday.

He is the type of officer we want in our community. And what happens? He is assaulted. I had to look his mother in the eye and tell her what happened to her son.”
“Last night, an officer with the Ferguson Police Department was injured in the line of duty in a senseless act of violence. Our prayers are with the officer for a full recovery, as well as his family, Police Chief Doyle and the entire Ferguson Police Department,” Missouri Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe wrote in a post Saturday at X.
