“If Donald Trump is an existential threat to democracy and the Democratic Party is transferring money that was raised by Joe Biden to Kamala Harris and nominating her without any kind of primary process or hearing, who is the existential threat for democracy, democrats or republicans?” Schoen asked. “Donald Trump was nominated twice in competitive primaries. So I think that's a fair question as well.”

At least 2,887 delegates have pledged to support Harris as of Tuesday afternoon, with just 1,976 needed to clinch the Democratic nomination. seconds in the Associated Press. Verbal support is currently non-binding.

“When I announced my campaign for president, I said I intended to go out and win that nomination,” Harris. he stated to X. “Tonight, I am proud to have garnered the broad support necessary to become our party's nominee, and as a daughter of California, I am proud that my home state's delegation helped put our campaign above.”
