Escalation of tensions in the Middle East: the conflict between Israel and Hamas expands

Tensions are rising in the Middle East as nations prepare for a potential escalation in the Israel-Hamas conflict, following the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has vowed retaliation against Israel, which is suspected of being behind the killing, although no confirmation has been issued.

In response to heightened tensions, hundreds of Lebanese citizens prepare to leave the country, while Israeli citizens stock up on supplies in anticipation of a potential assault.

Current events could redirect the focus of the war in Gaza, shifting it to a broader regional conflict involving the United States and other nations. This could also jeopardize ongoing efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and secure the release of hostages.
