Despite this turmoil, the 2022 race for the White House remains as close as ever. In a recent NPR/PBS Newshour/Marist national poll, Biden and Trump are neck and neck in a head-to-head matchup, with Biden leading by a scant 2 points.
However, the poll also reveals that nearly two-thirds of respondents doubt Biden's mental fitness to lead, including a significant share of Democrats.
