Hollywood director Rob Reiner is the latest addition to the chorus of prominent Democrats urging President Joe Biden to drop out of the race.
In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Reiner stated: “It's time to stop doing this. If convicted felon wins, we lose our democracy. Joe Biden has effectively served America with honor, decency and dignity. It's time for Joe Biden to step down.”

Reiner's call follows similar sentiments expressed by notable Hollywood Democratic figures, including Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings, Damon Lindelof and Abigail Disneyas well as Ari Emanuel, who expressed frustration after Biden's widely criticized performance in the June 27 debate against former President Donald Trump.
Reiner's statement comes after he hosted a fundraiser at his home in Brentwood, which was attended by Vice President Kamala Harris. At the June 29 event, Harris defended Biden, acknowledging that it was not his “finest hour,” but asserting that Trump remains “a threat to our democracy,” stressing that “nothing 'that changed because of a day in June.”
Meanwhile, Biden was busy campaigning, thanking Pennsylvania voters get him elected as a senator in Delaware.
BIDEN: “Even when I was running for Senate, every time I ran, frankly, it was no joke, Philadelphia, in particular, made me cross the line.
