Tom Cruise reportedly wants to reconnect with single date Sofia Vergara who follows her separated from husband Joe Manganiello.
The “Top Gun” superstar, 61, briefly courted the “Modern Family” actress, 51, in 2005, shortly before falling for Katie Holmes, 44.
“They already have that history, even if it was more of a fling than a full-fledged romance,” a source told British magazine Heat, according to the mirror
“They had a special time together partying in the Hollywood Hills and having a good time. Sofia wasn’t really giving the signs at the time that she wanted anything long-term, so she faded out in a totally amicable way and they went keep friends,” the source further alleged.
“It’s always been eaten by Tom who left Sofia and chose Katie.”
in style reported last year that his friend Will Smith set up Cruise with Vegara in February 2005.
The couple was photographed together by the paparazzi on a single date, and the romance reportedly fizzled out soon after.
According to Andrew Morton, who wrote the best-selling tome, “Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography”, Vergara “was dazzled by Tom’s megawatt smile and amused by the blizzard of phone calls, flowers and chocolates that followed their first meeting.”
However, the devoutly Catholic actress soon began to worry that the “Eyes Wide Shut” stud wanted her to convert to Scientology.
“It soon became clear that she was being auditioned for the biggest role of her life: Mrs. Tom Cruise,” Morton wrote. “It was made clear that if he took the role, he would have to renounce his Catholic faith and convert to Scientology.”
“She was fundamentally terrified of Scientology,” one of Vergara’s friends told Morton. “She honestly believed that God would attack her and burn in hell if she joined.”
The reported romance later ended.

Cruise began dating Holmes in April 2005. The couple married and welcomed their daughter, Suri, the following year. They broke up in 2012.
The “Cocktail” actor was previously married to Nicole Kidman, 56, from 1990 to 2001. They have two children, Connor and Isabella.
Meanwhile, Vergara was previously married to her high school sweetheart Joe Gonzalez from 1991 to 1993. The couple shares a son, Manolo.
Vergara married actor Joe Manganiello, 46, in 2015 before shocking fans by announcing their split late last month.
The actors released an exclusive joint statement to Page Six, saying, “We have made the difficult decision to divorce.
“As two people who love and care deeply for each other, we politely ask for our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
An insider added about the reason for the split: “Sofia and Joe have been separated for some time and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future.”
Manganiello has filed for divorce from Vergara, citing irreconcilable differences.
