House Republicans are “building the case” to issue criminal referrals against Dr. Anthony Fauci for lying to Congress, according to news reported on “The Benny Show” with reporter Benny Johnson.

“So specifically before your committee, and also before Rand Paul in the Senate, Dr. Fauci, of course, has cleared himself of all gain-of-function funding,” Johnson said. “He said he doesn’t know anything about it. It’s verifiable and provable that he lied. Now, there are codes in Congress. I have a code right here, 18 US Code 1001.”

“1001,” Jordan said.

“Declarations: False statements to Congress,” Johnson said. “It says you can go to jail, it says you can go to jail for eight years if you lie to Congress. It seems like there’s never been a clearer case of somebody lying to Congress.”

“Yes, we can, there could be a referral, but you would refer to the Biden Department of Justice,” Jordan commented. “I don’t know, they’re going to pursue it, but you definitely could. You could, have to have one of the committees, the Senate Judiciary Committee could make a referral. I doubt they’ll do it with the Democrats in charge.”

“We could potentially do a bypass,” he continued. “Frankly, I’d rather have Dr. Fauci come back and do another round of questions here, but we’re building the case. You know, like, we had Dr. Redfield testify last week, President Wenstrup did. I thought which it was, I thought it was great. As did the other witnesses who came forward.”

“So, again, laying the groundwork,” he continued. “I think Dr. Fauci and the CDC changed the definition of gain-of-function research, so Fauci has, like, that leeway, but they were taking advantage of this virus, certainly, taking advantage of this virus, doing -more, I don’t know the technique, but making it juicier and more deadly, I guess, maybe the right word.

“Yes,” Johnson commented.

“So they were doing it in this lab and I think it’s clear,” Jordan said. “So we’ll just have to see as we move forward with this investigation.”

Senator Rand Paul announced in July 2021 that he would send a criminal referral to the Department of Justice for lying to Congress.

Senator Paul’s announcement comes after fireworks with Dr. Fauci on his remarks about NIAID funding of “gain-of-function” research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology through subcontractor EcoHealth Alliance.

“Dr. Fauci, as you know, it is a crime to lie to Congress,” Senator Paul began his questioning of Fauci. “Section 1001 of the US Penal Code creates a felony and a five-year penalty for lying to Congress.”

“In your last trip to our committee on May 11, you said that the NIH has never funded and is now funding gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology,” Paul continued. “And yet the gain-of-function research was done entirely at the Wuhan Institute by Dr. Shi and was funded by the NIH.”

On Tuesday, the House Select Subcommittee on the coronavirus pandemic held hearings that dispelled Fauci’s many lies about the origins of SARS-CoV-2.

“We know that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was conducting gain-of-function research on new bat coronaviruses by creating chimeric viruses, combining two viruses together to test infectivity and infecting mice with these viruses, which the former coordinator of the Covid-19 task force, Dr. Deborah Birx. confirmed it was indeed a gain of function contrary to Dr. Fauci’s statements,” said Chairman Brad Wenstrup (R-OH).

Former CDC director Robert Redfield accused Dr. Fauci of keeping him out of conversations with researchers so he could cover up the lab leak theory.

Fauci later denied Redfield’s accusation in an interview with Neil Cavuto on Fox Business.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) then took Fauci to task for misleading the public.

“He was trying to cover his back, and everybody knows it,” Jordan said. “This is the highest paid man in our government. getting all kinds of money to tell us things that were not accurate. American tax dollars went to a lab in China, a lab that was not in the height of the code, a lab that was doing an increase in functional research, and that’s where this thing definitely came from and Dr. Fauci couldn’t have that news.”

It is time for the United States Congress to hold Dr. Fauci accountable for misleading the American people during the coronavirus pandemic. Even if that final calculation is not under this Senate and White House, the Republican Party is right to start “building the case.”
