Webb, a Republican who is not running for re-election this year, initially announced the identity change earlier this month on a social media account.

To avoid confusion, everyone can continue to address me as Ryan or Councilor Webb. I will also keep my preferred He/He pronouns, but this will in no way diminish my true identity as a woman of color. I am excited to be a vocal partner of the LGBTQIAPC+++ movement. Who knows how far we can take things, but I’m glad this is possible now, so ANYONE can be anything or anyone they want.
