TAMPA, Florida (CNN) – A law firm representing rapper Julio Foolio said the performer was killed Sunday in Tampa, Florida.
Tampa police said one person was killed and three others were injured during a shooting.
Julio Foolio's real name was Charles Jones.
The law firm representing Jones released a statement saying the 26-year-old was in Tampa over the weekend to celebrate his birthday.
He was initially staying at an Airbnb, but was asked to leave.
Jones then checked into a hotel.
The law firm said Jones was involved in an accident in the hotel parking lot and was reportedly ambushed.
Tampa police have not yet confirmed the identity of the victim, who is believed to be Jones.
They are trying to determine what happened and who is responsible for the shooting.
Julio Foolio's song Voo Doo is the most played song on Spotify with over 32 million streams. It had almost 1 million monthly listeners.
