Police body camera footage showed two police officers shocked to find a woman passed out at a McDonald’s from heroin with a baby in the back seat of her car.
The video was released by Marietta police to WSB-TV and showed two police officers being emotional about the incident in Cobb County, Georgia.
“It breaks my goddamn heart, bro,” one of the officers said in the video. “Dude, I’ve never seen anything like this.”
McDonald’s employees called 911 to report the passed out woman.
“He’s obviously got something, I don’t know,” an employee told dispatchers. “He’s still in there, and the baby was sitting there watching.”
The video shows officers trying to wake the woman and calm the 1-year-old boy.
Warrants for her arrest detailed why police believed she was intoxicated.
“[She] he had intermittent pupils when he regained consciousness, had difficulty formulating sentences with long pauses between words, and admitted under Miranda to having ‘used’ heroin approximately 15 hours earlier,” the police officer wrote. “He was also having a very difficult to stay awake throughout the meeting.”
The woman was later identified as Kelsey Warren. The child was evaluated and later released to the state.
Marietta Police Officer Chuck McPhilamy told WSB officers found a syringe in the car. The video showed one of the officers holding him in the air. He added that they also found cocaine in the car.
Warren faces numerous charges, including possession of a controlled substance, possession of cocaine, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
McPhilamy said it was not an uncommon occurrence.
“Unfortunately, we get these calls several times a week,” he said. “Not daily, but several times a week. It’s usually in the middle of an intersection.”
