Paul Ryan hit out at former President Trump as well as Tucker Carlson, calling his recent interview with the Russian president “informative for Putin.”
Ryan, who is on the board of Fox News, spoke with Washington Post Senior congressional correspondent Paul Kane during the channel's “Election 2024” live event on Wednesday.
The former GOP House speakerwho is a Never-Trumper, accused Carlson and Trump of pushing “pro-Putin” and “pro-tyranny” to their supporters in the United States.
Kane wanted to get Ryan's take on current events in the news, Congress and Carlson. The former speaker was happy to oblige and poured on his fellow Republicans.

“What is it with Russia that we keep going back to this kind of reverberation loop that started in 2016, where they're apparently still trying and, by some measure, still succeeding?” Kane falsely asked Ryan, apparently referring to a GOP informant in President Biden's impeachment investigation having alleged ties to Russian intelligence.
“But Russia has been trying to penetrate our system for a long time, before 2016. I mean for a long time. They were very active in those days, and obviously now, as we know, that Russia tried to affect our choices,” Ryan replied.
“On the other side of that, which makes Republicans angry, deservedly so in this particular case, is that the Obama Justice Department abused the FISA court. They abused the FISA laws in this matter, and we can go into the Steele dossier and all that stuff,” he commented.
Ryan criticized Russia's efforts to spread disinformation in the United States.
“They believe that our weakness is our freedom, so we would polarize into inaction,” he charged. “And Russia is basically with a bayonet trying to poke and find the soft tissue in the American political system, and this is probably just another chapter in that story.”
Paul Ryan spoke on DJT and Tucker Carlson!
“They're helping to cure a line of thinking … that is isolationist, pro-Putin, pro-Russia, pro-tyranny at the end of the day. And that's extremely dangerous for all democracies.”

At that point, Kane turned around to attack Carlson instead of Russia.
“Do you think they found that little hole in the system with Tucker Carlson? What did you think if you saw any of the clips of him rolling around Soviet, sorry, Russian grocery stores proclaiming his greatness?” he asked Ryan.
“This was it just amazes me. This one takes the cake, frankly,” Ryan told Kane.
The former speaker went on to bash those in his own party instead of Democrats, which told many who watched the interview.
“Yeah, I mean, what they're going to try to do is build sympathy. What worries me the most, and not just Tucker, but that's a symptom of all of this, is that they're curing sympathy in America. And they're helping to nurture and develop an isolationist wing in my party and in our country, which I think is very, very dangerous”, he said.
Paul Ryan is trying to re-brand himself as anti-establishment and MAGA as the new Republican establishment…
I think I despise these RINOs, like Ryan, Pence, Christie and Cheney even more than the radical progressive leftists, because they shouldn't be any better. ♂️ https://t.co/gzB77j9X2f

“They're developing people who want to see NATO shrink or NATO not join. Obviously former President Trump is pushing that line as well. So what I'm really concerned about is that they're helping to create a line of thought, a school of thought that is isolationist, meaning pro-Putin, pro-Russia, pro-tyranny at the end of the day. And that's extremely dangerous for all of democracy, but for us as a democracy.” Ryan said.
He then hit Carlson for his interview with Putin.
“And so, as I see Tucker, just a small chapter in this story. I didn't see the whole interview. I saw a little bit of it, but it seemed like some kind of infomercial so that Putin could push his propaganda,” he laughed Ryan sounding exactly like a Democrat.
