Early Tuesday morning in Charlotte, North Carolina, at least five shooting incidents are believed to be linked to two suspects who were later arrested by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Along with an unnamed 16-year-old, CMPD reported the arrest of 18-year-old Carlos Roberto Diaz, who sources told WSOC was a Honduran national who entered the country illegally in 2019.

“These were brazen crimes. These were crimes that put our community at risk and created a safety hazard for our community,” CMPD Chief Johnny Jennings said at a news conference Thursday. “CMPD personnel took this personally. They took this as a threat to the safety of the citizens of Charlotte and acted accordingly.”

According to police, an initial response to the fatal gunshot wound of a Mustaffa Muhammad had found officers and detectives responding to four other shootings in the area as victims reported being shot in their cars, in their homes and even while riding their bikes.

Some escaped injury, while others were treated for non-life-threatening injuries after being hit by bullets.

After initiating a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle that resulted in the arrest of the juvenile suspect early Thursday morning, CMPD detailed that, that afternoon, their Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) had located Diaz with the assistance of the Charlotte FBI and arrested him without incident.

While the 16-year-old was charged with first-degree murder, and more charges were expected, the charges against Diaz included: one count of first-degree murder, one count of conspiracy to commit murder, five counts of 'assassination attempt. , two counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle, two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or cause serious injury.

Sources told WSOC that when he was 14, Diaz had an encounter with the Border Patrol on the Rio Grande. Details on whether this was the only time the suspect had tried to enter the United States were not specified.

Similarly, the background of the unnamed youth was not released although detectives had determined that “the 16-year-old suspect had the intent to engage in additional violent criminal activity,” based on their investigation.

The violent rampage suspected to be at the hands of at least one foreigner came as a report detailed how at least 16 suspected terrorists had managed to enter the United States across the unsecured border, including eight from Tajikistan who were said to have been talking. bombs before his arrest.

A Jordanian was arrested after trying to break into the Quantico Marine Corps base, while in October a 27-year-old Senegalese man was detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the New York City while wanted for suspected terrorist activities.

As former President Donald Trump stated during a recent interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, a “new form of crime” is on the rise in the country “and it's called Biden migrant crime.”

“We have a new form, it's a new category, and it will be very, very serious for a long time. And we have to get them out of our country. We don't want them out, let them out of their jails and prisons. We don't want them in our country. It is not sustainable for any country,” the GOP leader added.
