Judge rules against DOJ's efforts to hide 'Rachel' Levine's emails in Alabama 'sex reassignment' lawsuit

(LifeSiteNews) – A judge has thwarted efforts by Biden's Department of Justice (DOJ) to withhold emails written by US Health Vice Admiral Richard “Rachel” Levine that have a bearing on litigation aimed at blocking a Alabama law prohibiting “sex changes” for minors.

After Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed a law to protect gender-confused children harmful surgical and chemical interventions, a group of five families with children who allegedly identify as “transgender” challenged the law as “unconstitutional.” The DOJ joined the plaintiffs' suit, opening the door for Levine's emails and other documents to be examined by the defendants in the case.

Levine has long been an outspoken promoter of transgender interventions for minors. Before becoming a public figure, he was a pediatrician specializing in so-called “LGBTQ medicine.”

The Biden administration's DOJ had been suppressing Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall's requests for Levine's communications, arguing that Levine's “work is too broad and high-level for his research [sic] email account or documents to obtain relevant information related to this lawsuit.”

In its motion to obtain Levine's records, Marshall's team responded, “It is no hyperbole to say that Admiral Levine is the leading public official in the United States government when it comes to treatment transition. [sic] for minors”.

U.S. District Court Judge Liles Burke ruled in favor of Alabama: “Given that Adm. Levine is a public official, the Court bases this conclusion in part on the parties' representation that production would not interfere with it. [sic] official duties or charge it [sic] personally.”

“I am pleased that the court has granted our motion to require HHS to search Admiral Levine's emails for documents relevant to our defense of the Alabama law.” he wrote Marshall in a statement about X.

Levine has been at the forefront of the Biden administration's reckless promotion of sex-reassignment procedures for children.

There is no doubt about this, or about the Admiral's close involvement with radical organizations like WPATH whose “Rules of Care” mandate the use of sterilizing hormones and surgeries to “treat” vulnerable children who suffer gender dysphoria.

“We look forward to reviewing the documents that HHS produces as we continue to advocate for Alabama's children,” the state law enforcement official added.

Alabama's “Vulnerable Child Compassion and Protection Act” (SB 184) prohibits “prescribing or administering” hormones and puberty blockers to gender-confused minors under the age of 19, and also prohibits “sex-change” sterilization surgeries and other procedures to remove “healthy or non-diseased body parts.”[s] or tissue” of a child, com previously informed for LifeSiteNews.

Last year, Levine he claimed that Americans must “empower” children to undergo hormonal and surgical transgender interventions.

Earlier this year, he said moves by states to enact laws banning so-called “sex reassignments” of minors are “unconscionable” and declared that “gender affirming” interventions for children are supported “at the highest level” of the Biden administration.

In July, the 66-year-old mixed gender claimed that hormones are necessary for children who feel they are “going through the incorrect puberty.”
