Pro-Israel opponents are launching political campaigns against the Democratic Party’s biggest anti-Semites in Congress, including Reps. Cori Bush, Ilhan Omar, and Jamaal Bowman, among others.

“On Monday, Bush became the latest anti-Israel member of the House to pick up a primary challenger, who cites Bush’s stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict as one reason he is joining the race “, according to Jewish Insider.

Wesley Bell is his name and he is the St. Louis. He had reportedly previously announced a run against Sen. Josh Hawley, but has since ended that campaign and launched a new one against Bush.

“As a country, we must be reliable partners. We must stand by our fellow democracies, and we must fight terrorism. Hamas is a terrorist organization and I will not waver in my support for Israel,” he told Jewish Insider.

However, to hear it from Bush, it sounds as if Israel is the real terrorist organization:

During a press conference announcing his candidacy, Bell further said, “We cannot give aid and comfort to terrorist organizations.”

Asked by Jewish Insider to explain that comment, he pointed to Bush’s vote against funding Israel’s Iron Dome system and noted that America’s enemies, including Hamas, “pay attention” to public disputes in USA

“They want propaganda to try to create confusion and misinformation. I think it matters a lot. And then, obviously, how you vote. There are certain things that we can’t politicize and this is one of them, in my opinion. And as we see, Republicans and Democrats alike, one of the few issues where we all come together,” he added.

He went on to point out that Bush’s comments about the war between Israel and Hamas had played an important role in motivating him to challenge it.

“He contributed [my decision] for the superficial reasons that those comments were offensive on many levels, but also from a national security perspective. It will require consistent and effective leadership to ensure that we are able to achieve peaceful resolutions and that often means standing with other democracies,” he said.

Ilhan Omar

Meanwhile, Omar could soon face another challenge from former Minneapolis City Councilman Don Samuels, who ran against her but lost in 2022.

Talking to him New York PostSamuels said he is considering a new campaign against her in light of her continued anti-Semitic rhetoric.

“She makes knee-jerk reactions to global events that require thoughtful and coordinated responses. She’s disconnected from the issues in her district. Those issues are public education, public safety, housing prices, affordable housing and homelessness,” he said.

Next up is Bowman, who faces what the Post describes as “a potentially strong challenge from Westchester County Executive George Latimer.”

“I’ve been asked to do this by important people and friends of mine. They’ve expressed their displeasure with the incumbent on many different issues. Obviously, Israel is very high on that list. I’m a strong supporter of Israel,” Latimer told the diary

Rashida Tlaib

Although Rep. Rashida Tlaib is yet to face a primary challenge, this week a nonprofit called Democratic Majority for Israel ran a six-figure ad targeting her.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Ocasio-Cortez, meanwhile, faces a challenge from Tina Forte, a Republican who has been critical of the congresswoman’s unprecedented attacks on the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

“AIPAC endorsed numerous January 6 riots. They are no friend of American democracy. They are also one of the most racist and bigoted PACs in Congress, disproportionately targeting members of color. They are an extremist organization that destabilizes American democracy,” the congresswoman tweeted on Tuesday.

In response, Forte tweeted the following:

As for AIPAC, Jewish Insider notes that it has been “working to recruit challengers to the squad,” though that’s not its main focus at this exact moment.

“There will be a time for political action, but right now our priority is to build and maintain congressional support for Israel’s fight to permanently dismantle Hamas, which perpetrated this barbaric terrorist attack on the Jewish state.” , a spokesman told the paper.
