Few Americans under the age of 50 can remember Jimmy Carter’s presidency. After all, it served until 1980, which was 44 years ago. For those who do Remember that it can be described in one word: “inflationary”.

Senator McCain’s prophetic observation

In 2008, then-presidential candidate John McCain declared, “Barack Obama is running for Jimmy Carter’s second term.” Democrats rejected the late senator’s prediction. Obama was seen as a new face. His words echoed the same optimism reflected by John F. Kennedy 48 years earlier. His ideology turned out to be very different.

Many Americans took issue with former President George W. Bush, primarily because of his affinity for “endless wars in faraway places.” A favorable aspect can be highlighted. Bush immediately returned to Texas when his second term ended. His presidency was over. He had no interest in bucking tradition by shadowing and second-guessing the president-elect.

This was not the case with Obama. He continues to reside in Washington. Republicans have accused Barack Obama of “continuing his presidency” through an increasingly weak Joe Biden. There is some credibility to this claim. His fingerprints appear to be on many, if not most, of Biden’s initiatives.

Different face, same agenda

Older members of the party were relieved at Biden’s nomination. It represented a time of peace that came with the dissolution of the former Soviet Union. Mitch McConnell praised Biden as “a person we can work with.” Yet when the elder Biden took office, it became clear that 2021 would be more reminiscent of 2009 than 1996.

The goals of Obama and later the Biden Administration can be described as “unfettered government spending,” accompanied by “government growth.” Dodd-Frank and the Green New Deal delivered the same verdict: “Americans would be forced to pay more for everything because the measures led to inflation.” We were told that these measures were “for our own betterment.”

Dodd-Frank: A Beginner’s Creation

The 2008 financial crisis was described by Obama as “the fault of greedy mortgage brokers”. Nothing could be further from the truth!

The merger was caused by the repeal of Glass-Steagall, nearly a decade earlier. A bipartisan coalition led by Bill Clinton, Robert Rubin, Phil Graham, Chuck Schumer and others came up with a way for banks to get involved in securities. It meant repealing a 1933 statute that separated commercial banking from investment banking. In the end, its repeal turned out to be a disaster! Few noticed. We thank former Texas Governor Rick Perry for bringing it to our attention.

Barack Obama had no banking experience! He was a community organizer. Barney Frank’s career had focused on gay rights. Former Connecticut Senator Christopher Dodd will always be remembered for his beloved dealings with Countrywide Home Loans. Many considered him the most corrupt senator in Washington.

Dodd-Frank added layers of regulation to mortgage banking. It now costs about twice as much and takes almost twice as long to get approved by borrowers. Self-employed borrowers have been scrutinized remarkably. Underwriters were indoctrinated into the Obamanomics ideology of “enhanced scrutiny.” In other words, “Let’s find a way to disqualify the borrower!” And, of course, “it’s for its own good!”

The Green New Deal: An Inflation Machine

Climate alarmists are learning that people are not as stupid as originally thought. They have concluded that inflation is the byproduct of the Green New Deal. Gasoline prices have doubled. Energy costs have increased by 50% or more. Food prices have skyrocketed. Suddenly, people realize they’ve taken a massive pay cut! Americans on fixed incomes have been hit the hardest! Meanwhile, a small group of “interest capitalists” who were already at the top of the economic ladder, get rich!

“I voted for Biden, but I don’t know what he’s talking about when he says ‘Bidenomics,’ or whatever, is working,” Sabrina Jones of Denver, Colorado, told The Epoch Times. “Prices are not coming down for me or anyone I know.”

“I feel like things have gotten worse since Trump and I don’t think they’re going to get better,” Ms. Jones said.

“If you want to know if I’m better off, look under my Christmas tree, if I can afford one this year,” Matt Price, a Republican from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, told The Epoch Times. “I think Biden is out of touch with reality.”

Biden officials are scrambling to streamline Democratic policies. Americans don’t seem to buy it.

Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, who was promoted to the post by President Biden, recently noted that while inflation is coming down, that’s not the same as deflation, where prices are falling. Instead, it is disinflation, where prices rise slowly.

“If the economy is doing better, if this disinflationary process that we keep talking about is actually underway, then why are people so upset?” Mrs. Cook recently said during a speech at Duke University. “And I asked myself, ‘Why am I so upset?’ Well, I know why I’m upset. Because I have GasBuddy on my phone and I’m looking around and I’m like, “So, hey, when are the prices going to go back to where they were?” Right?”

Ms Cook said most Americans were “not just looking for deflation”, but for prices to return to where they were before the pandemic began.

Censorship is becoming more and more obvious

With skepticism growing across the electorate, the government is predictably turning to censorship. This would have been difficult to imagine when we remember the Biden of the 90s. Conversely, it is easy to predict when reviewing the Obama presidency. Expect continued, if not increased, censorship as the 2024 election date approaches.
