Fede Álvarez is highly anticipated alien: Romulus It was finally revealed to the public on Monday night after the 20th Century Studios film had its world premiere in Los Angeles, and the first reactions have already hit social media.
The eighth installment of the long run alien the franchise is set between the events of Ridley Scottof 1979 alien and James Cameron's 1986 sequel extraterrestrials. Romulus follows young colonists who stumble upon an abandoned space station and encounter the horror of the alien creature that is the franchise's enduring star. The film stars Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced and Spike Fearn.
The film is produced by Scott, Michael Pruss and Walter Hill.
Romulus It was originally planned to be a Hulu release in the vein of Dan Trachtenberg's critically acclaimed predator prequel, prey (2022), but the studio wisely moved to the theater at the start of principal photography. “When we started shooting it, the studio said, 'Shit, let's go to theaters with this.'” Alvarez adds The Hollywood Reporter in an in-depth interview in March.
Romulus opens in theaters on August 16.
