The media and Democrats have gone apoplectic over a new public library law in Idaho that restricts minors' access to age-sensitive material and requires parental supervision.
Specific case… the daily mail reported: “Idaho's public libraries have banned children from a controversial law that puts a 'bounty' on thousands of books. Conservative lawmakers pushed legislation that would allow parents to sue libraries for books they consider 'obscene' or unsuitable for children'.
“Public and school libraries had 60 days to remove the book or move it to an adults-only area closely supervised by staff, or face lawsuits from parents. However, many libraries were too small to create a special section, or they didn't have the resources or the appetite for risk and instead banned kids entirely,” the outlet claimed, then claimed that the Idaho Falls Public Library had a “huge stop sign ” shown and that customers had to show ID if they were under 30 years old.
This last claim is being contested. It supposedly refers to a sign that displayed the Donnelly Public Library, according to an online curator.
“These comments about Idaho's new law restricting age-sensitive materials in public libraries are insane.
To be clear, the law does NOT:
– Restrict access to public libraries to those under 18.
– Requires photo ID for those who are questionably under 18 to enter (or under 30)
– Require public libraries to issue special “unrestricted” library cards to patrons.
– Go, '…accompanied by your parent or legal guardian who must sign an affidavit every time you come to the library.'
The sign below is either a fake or posted by some very stupid activists. I plan to visit each of the 3 libraries on the way home tonight to verify if this sign is real or not. Even the citation of the law is wrong on this sign!” Slippery Sloop wrote to X.
Update: None of the three libraries I visited yesterday contained signs like the image above. This includes the main library in downtown Boise, which is about 4 blocks from the capitol.
After some digging, I found out that the above sign IS posted on a small…

This clarification and charge did not stop the Daily Mail from continuing to report suspiciously about the issue: “Children could only enter if they had an unrestricted library card which meant their parents were happy with them browsing alone, or that they were accompanied of a parent who “should” Sign an affidavit every time you come to the library”.
The claim inflamed leftists and led to an explosion. The abortion card was also thrown out because Idaho prohibits most of the practice except in cases of rape or incest.
The Daily Mail reported that the Donnelly Public Library claimed it was too small to enforce the law and would only allow adults on the premises because of it.
“Kids wouldn't even be able to use the bathroom without being accompanied by a parent or part of a program where their parents sign a waiver,” the outlet added.
“Our size prohibits us from separating our 'big' books to be out of the accessible reach of children,” the library stated. “Because we don't have a retaining attorney, we can't take those chances. We have to let someone other than a small, rural library fight it.”
Democrats and left-wing critics of the law are furious, saying it affects free speech and parents' rights. They protested its entry into force.

The law is the result of what many feel is pornographic books being allowed in children's sections of public libraries. The movement was led by organizations such as Parents Against Bad Books.
“Husband and wife team Blaine and Anna Conzatti who run the group came up with a hit list of 53 books they wanted off the library shelves,” noted the Daily Mail.

“Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris sparked further outrage when a body camera was released showing him going through the young adult section of the Hayden Public Library, looking for books he deemed obscene,” said the medium. “On camera, he claimed libraries were 'appealing' to children with inappropriate books 'like the old-fashioned guy in the candy van.'
