Four months from the election, Joe Biden's goose is already cooked and the geriatric incumbent could also be on the receiving end of a landslide, according to David Axelrod.

The Democratic strategist and former adviser to Barack Obama has been highly critical of Biden's decision to run for re-election and didn't sugar coat it, Biden is gone in November and could destroy his legacy if he remains stubborn about resigning.

Axelrod appeared on Sunday's edition of CNN's “Inside Politics” where he discussed his brutally frank reaction to Biden's first post-debate interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos, an opportunity for the 81-year-old years of showing the nation that he is still fit for the job.

“There are certain immutable facts of life, and those were painfully obvious at that stage of the debate, and the president doesn't seem to have gotten there, hasn't gotten it. He's not winning this race,” Axelrod said, bluntly that Biden has no chance.

“If you just look at the data and talk to people across the country, political people across the country, he's more likely to lose by a landslide than to narrowly win this race,” he continued. “And if the stakes are as high as he says, and I think they are, then he really needs to consider what is the right thing to do here.”

After the ABC interview, Axelrod took to X to criticize Biden, who came across as an out-of-touch egomaniac in denial of his unpopularity with voters.

“I think he's done some historically important things and history will be a lot kinder to him than voters are right now, but the question is: What will his reputation be like?” Axelrod asked. “What will his legacy be if he persists in this race and loses and loses badly, which is really possible at this point, you know we elect presidents by the Electoral College.”

He continued, “I know there are some polls that say otherwise, but I've looked at a lot of data and nobody in those states who is, who is knowledgeable would say he's ahead in any of the states in the field battle, but now you have States like Virginia, Minnesota, Maine, the governors of New Mexico and Maine told him in that meeting last week that they weren't sure he could carry their states, which were supposed to be in his column .

“So he could lose and take the House and the Senate with him, that's not the legacy he wants. He's got a great, great record and a great history. So I think if that's what he's thinking, he's looking the wrong way,” Axelrod added. “The only thing that keeps him out of politics is the immutable march of time.”

“I think he's making a terrible mistake,” Axelrod said in May, criticizing Biden for his lack of empathy for Americans who have been crushed by his economic policies. “If he doesn't win this race, it may not be Donald Trump who wins it, it may be his own pride.”
