Former President Donald Trump slammed the third Republican presidential debate on Wednesday, calling it “unwatchable” during a rally in Hialeah, Florida.
Republican Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, Republican Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina and former Republican Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey participated in a debate hosted by NBC News anchors Kristen Welker, Lester Holt and radio host Hugh Hewitt. Trump skipped the debate, as he did for the previous two debates, opting to hold a rally nearby as the Republican candidates squared off against each other.

“I think they’re in a debate tonight,” Trump said after speaking to the New York Times poll showing it leading in several states, Biden narrowly carried in 2020. “No one is talking about it.”
“I was watching these guys. They can’t be seen,” Trump said. “You know, the last debate was the lowest debate in the history of politics. So, do you think we did the right thing by not participating? Someone said, one of the stupidest, ‘He doesn’t have the courage to stand up.’ Well, listen, I’m in front of tens of thousands of people right now, and it’s on TV. This is much harder to do than debate. This is much more difficult.”
Trump also took aim at Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff of California, calling his neck an “engineering marvel” and Haley, whom he referred to as a “bird brain” and mocked for mocking run against him in 2024.
Trump has a big lead over DeSantis in RealClearPolitics averagewith 58.3% of Republican primary voters to 14.6% for DeSantis, with Haley in third place with 9.4% and Ramaswamy in fourth place with 4.4%.
