Billionaire Elon Musk has vowed to sue the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) over its censorship campaign.
The vote, issued early Thursday morning, came a day after the GOP-led House Judiciary Committee held a hearing to establish how GARM has targeted dissident and anti-left voices with censorship.
“After seeing the evidence uncovered today by Congress, he has no choice but to file a lawsuit against the perpetrators and collaborators of the ad boycott racket,” Musk tweeted after the hearing. “Hopefully some states will consider criminal prosecution.”

Attached to the tweet was a video of an extremely popular conservative podcaster and radio host, Ben Shapiro, testifying about GARM's censorship efforts against his own company, The Daily Wire.
“GARM purportedly sets 'brand safety' standards — objective standards by which advertisers and platforms can purportedly determine what kind of content should be considered 'safe' for advertising,” it stated.
“In reality, GARM acts like a cartel. Its members account for 90 percent of advertising spending in the United States, nearly $1 trillion. In other words, if you don't get ad money from GARM members, it's nearly impossible to run an ad-based business. And if you don't follow their preferred political narratives, the ones Kara Swisher and Dianne Feinstein would follow, you won't be considered “brand safe.”
bingo It's all about politics for GARM. If you're a far leftist like Kara Swisher of the New York Times or the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein, you're fine. Otherwise, if you're not left-wing, or worse, right-wing, you're in deep trouble.
“Your business will be strangled,” Shapiro explained. “We at The Daily Wire have experienced this firsthand. In 2017, after Feinstein took her threats to reduce the weight of government on social media platforms, the Daily Wire's YouTube channels saw a 1,000 per cent in the application of the content during a period of two years”.
“Since 2021, after Democratic officials turned up the heat even more on social media companies, my Facebook page has seen a drop of more than eighty percent in impressions,” he added.
Even Joe Rogan, arguably the most popular podcaster in the world, has faced censorship because of GARM.
“At the behest of its members, GARM and its Steer Team threatened Spotify for alleged misinformation on Joe Rogan's podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, because Mr. Rogan opined that young, healthy people do not need to be vaccinated against COVID-19”. according to the following report of the Judicial Committee of the Chamber:

“GARM even admitted that it was acting outside the scope of its brand safety work, explaining to one of its members that”[b]The security of the rand is slightly different to Spotify and, for example, the Facebook Newsfeed because brands are not embedded in the podcast,” the report says. “In other words, companies could easily choose whether to advertise or avoid the podcast of mr. Rogan and therefore GARM had no business interfering with Spotify's decision.”
“GARM even admitted the antitrust implications of being caught, when [GARM’s leader and co-founder, Rob Rakowitz] told a GARM member that he “can't publicly advise all customers to do X, that puts us in hot water through anti-competitive and collusive behavior.” To avoid this problem, Mr. Rakowitz offered to “help.” [brands] formulate a [point of view].' In doing so, although Mr. Rakowitz mistook members of his trade association for “customers,'' such coordinated action implicates antitrust law.''
