Elon Musk explains why he backed Trump after the assassination attempt [VIDEO]

In a recent podcast segment with Lex Fridman, tech entrepreneur Elon Musk publicly endorsed former President Donald Trump, citing his courage in extreme circumstances as a key reason.

Musk's endorsement comes in the wake of an assassination attempt against Trump, which he sees as a testament to the former president's courage and resilience.

During the conversation, Fridman asked Musk about his support, pointing out some of Trump's shortcomings and raising concerns about his ability to manage complex global issues. Fridman asked: “There was tragically an assassination attempt on Donald Trump. After that, you tweeted that you support him. What is your philosophy behind that endorsement? What do you expect Donald Trump to do for the future of this country and for the future of humanity?

Musk responded with a strong defense of his position, stressing that his endorsement does not imply that he agrees with everything Trump has done, but highlights Trump's exceptional display of courage. Musk stated: “You know, people tend to accept, for example, an endorsement as well. I agree with everything this person has done in their entire life 100% wholeheartedly. And that's not going to be true for to no one, but we have to choose. We have two choices, really, for who is the president.”

He continued: “Trump showed bravery under fire objectively. You know, he just got shot, blood is running down his face and it's like a fist that said, fight, you know? Like, that's impressive. Like, you can't feign bravery in a situation like this. Like, most people would run away, there wouldn't be, because it could be a second shooter.”

Musk contrasted Trump's bravery with Joe Biden's physical and cognitive challenges, arguing that the choice between the two candidates is tough. He added: “You want someone strong and brave to represent the country, that doesn't mean he's not going to have flaws. We're going to have flaws, but on balance, and certainly at the time, it was a choice of, you know, Biden, poor, poor , you know, he's having trouble going up a flight of stairs, and the others hit it off. He says no, there's no comparison.”

Addressing broader concerns, Musk stressed the importance of addressing America's security and fiscal issues. “I think we want a secure border. We don't have a secure border. We want clean, safe cities. I think we want to reduce the amount of spending that we're at least slowing spending, and because we're currently spending at a rate that's bankrupting the country.” , he warned.

Musk also highlighted the dangers of unchecked federal spending, drawing a comparison to Argentina's economic decline. He urged: “Interest payments on the US debt this year exceeded all spending by the Department of Defense. If this continues, all federal government taxes will simply pay the interest. And then, and continue down this path, you end up, you know, in the tragic situation that Argentina was in back in the day… So I think we shouldn't take American prosperity for granted. So we really want to, I think we have to shrink the size of government We have to reduce spending and we have to live within our means.”
