Dr. Dre is aiming for Olympic archery glory at the 2028 Los Angeles Games

-

Legendary music mogul Dr Dre has expressed his desire to compete in archery for the USA at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The 59-year-old hip-hop icon, born Andre Romell Young, revealed that he has been practicing the sport in their backyard, at a distance greater than that required for the Olympic Games.

Dr. Dre's interest in archery dates back to his high school days. He took a break from the sport, but reintroduced it when his son gave him an archery set. The gift, which he can't remember whether it was for his birthday or Father's Day, prompted him to set up an archery range in his backyard. He mentioned that the qualifying distance for the Olympics is 77 feet, but he trains at 90 feet.

Archery has been part of the Olympic program since 1972, with 64 men and 64 women competing in individual, team and mixed team events. Dr. Dre, who recently performed in Los Angeles during the closing ceremony of the Paris Games alongside longtime collaborator Snoop Dogg, hinted at the California flavor that will be brought to the 2028 event.

Although it is not yet known how serious Dr. Dre about his Olympic aspirations, given his successful career in music and business, it would be unwise to discount his potential for success in this new venture.
