- “The elites, the media and the establishment want Joe Biden to win re-election,” DeSantis campaign press secretary Bryan Griffin told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
President Joe Biden's main fundraising arms have received a huge amount of support from the nation's most expensive zip codes, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation analysis of Federal Election Commission (FEC) records.
The 10 most expensive zip codes for the average value of the house, which accounted for for just 0.02% of the population in 2020, they were responsible for 7.6 percent of donations this year to the Biden campaign and the Biden Victory Fund, which are the primary committees used by the president's re-election effort, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau and the FEC. The roughly 81,000 people living in those zip codes gave 311 times more to Biden than would be proportional to their population share.
Residents of the 10 most expensive U.S. ZIP codes gave a total of $7,519,474 to the Biden campaign and the Biden Victory Fund this year, or about $930 per person, according to FEC records and the 'Census Office.
Median home prices in these ZIP codes range from $4.25 million in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., on the low end, to $7.95 million in Atherton, Calif., on the high end, according to the Times. The median home price in the United States was $412,000 in September. seconds in Forbes.
Democrats have bled working class voters since 2016, but they have made up for their losses by appealing to higher-income voters and college graduates, seconds in Axios.
Working-class congressional districts have begun electing more Republicans to represent them, while Democrats have begun picking up wealthier districts, Axios. reported. Democrats represented nine of the 10 wealthiest congressional districts as of 2022.
Biden has presented himself as a champion of the working class, inclined in his supposed blue-collar roots and juxtaposing himself with former President Donald Trump.
“I see this as a campaign between Scranton and Park Avenue,” Biden said during a CNN town hall ahead of the 2020 election.
“All President Trump could see from Park Avenue is Wall Street. Just think about the stock market,” he continued. “How many of you own stocks in Scranton? Not many people own stocks.”
Biden campaign co-chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg said the president raised more than $15 million during a fundraising weekend earlier this month in wealthy Los Angeles neighborhoods that focused on wooing high-dollar donors and members of Hollywood's social elite, Deadline. reported.
“The elites, the media and the establishment want Joe Biden to win re-election,” DeSantis campaign press secretary Bryan Griffin told the DCNF. “Ron DeSantis is the champion of the American people against the elite, and that's why we're working so hard to win this nomination.”
Jeremy Mayer, a professor of government at George Mason University, told the DCNF that “it's not uncommon for a politician to get a large percentage of their money from small, wealthy areas.”
“The ten most expensive specific postcodes are in very blue areas and they give accordingly,” he said. “You'd probably see a different picture if we looked at the 100 wealthiest zip codes.”
He also noted that high-dollar donors give more money to super PACs than to campaigns because it allows them to “make more of a difference.”
According to FEC records, Trump did not enjoy the support of those wealthy zip codes as much as Biden did.
The trump campaign and the Save America Joint Fundraising Committeeonly the former president's two main fundraising arms get up $204,993 from those ZIP codes, or about 0.4 percent of their total contributions this year, according to the FEC.
“Trump is probably doing better with small donors to his campaign than Biden,” Mayer told the DCNF. “Trump ignites powerful passions in a way that Biden does not.”
Biden's support from wealthy counties becomes more disproportionate when examining just a handful of ZIP codes that have become bastions Democratic fundraiser.
There were only 10 rich zip codes selected responsible for 11.7% of donations to Biden's re-election effort this year.
These zip codes encompassed wealthy California communities such as Beverly Hills, Atherton, Los Altos, Manhattan Beach, Santa Monica, San Francisco, and Palo Alto. They also included zip codes in New York City and Chevy Chase, Maryland.
The Trump and Biden campaigns did not respond to DCNF's requests for comment.
