Former President Donald Trump said it would be a “very dangerous” idea for Democrats to jail him.
In an interview on The Simon Conway Show this week, Trump was asked about the possibility of being jailed. The host asked Trump to anticipate the reactions of his supporters.
“It’s something that you worry about that people make sure they don’t go out of their minds if something like this happens, if this, for example, they say: Jack Smith says, ‘OK, I’m going to put Donald Trump in jail?'” the host asked.
“I think it’s very dangerous to even talk about it, because we have a tremendously passionate group of voters, much more passionate than they were in 2020 and much more passionate than they were in 2016,” he said, adding, “I think it would be very dangerous.”
This week, Donald Trump unloaded on Truth Social upon learning that special counsel Jack Smith intended to indict him for his alleged role in the January 6 riots.
“Democrat prosecutors waited years to bring charges so they could interfere with the 2024 presidential election. But they’re getting a big pushback!” He wrote
Trump continued: “For the first time in American history, lawyers and the legal system itself are under siege… a gift from corrupt Joe Biden, Merrick Garland and the deranged prosecutor, Jack Smith!”
Donald Trump was impeached in 2021 over the Capitol riots, but was acquitted after a US Senate trial. Trump supporters are now arguing that Donald Trump’s impeachments should be removed.
