The border, the election and the vice president converged in a scathing remark by Donald Trump Jr. that criticized Democrats “allergic to common sense” while the GOP worked to secure the citizen vote.

With just over three months to go before Election Day, Trump Jr. recalled that Texas Rep. Chip Roy (R) had introduced the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act aimed at ensuring that illegal aliens were barred from registering to vote by requiring proof of citizenship and expanding state access to federal databases to help prevent foreign actors from interfering in US elections.
After referring to the current law as “toothless,” he promoted the SAVE Act to solve the problem where “the vast majority of states do not require proof of citizenship.”
