DOJ 'discovers' Biden-Hur's 'old, bad memory' transcripts after Joe quits

The Justice Department admits to having transcripts of interviews between Joe Biden and biographer Mark Zwonitzer, although it initially insisted the documents did not exist.

The transcripts are related to Robert Hur's investigation into Biden's handling of classified information after he left the vice presidency.

According to DOJ lawyers, processing audio files into transcripts related to the president's conversations with Zwonitzer would be a tedious process, and the department does not have an accurate transcript.

However, the court filing Monday evening admitted to having six electronic files that consisted of 117 pages of transcribed information.

The Heritage Foundation filed the specific FOIA request, and DOJ officials even reached out to an anonymous source with knowledge of the transcripts, though they were reluctant to contact Hur directly for information. .

Hur eventually confirmed the transcripts of the conversations between Biden and Zwonitzer, which were trusted for his final report.

While the report concluded that Biden would not face criminal charges for possessing classified materials after his vice presidency, it did label him a “nice, well-meaning older man with a poor memory.”

This controversial report sparked outrage over Biden's perceived cognitive decline.

The White House asserted executive privilege over audio and video recordings related to the Hur investigation, including interviews between Biden and Zwonitzer.

However, Cameron Silverberg, the DOJ attorney, says he will consult with the relevant parties about the possible release of transcripts.

The revelation came after growing pressure on Biden to drop out of the presidential race, following his debate performance that raised concerns about his mental fitness and age.

As a result, Vice President Kamala Harris emerged as the presumptive candidate for the 2024 election.
