Democrats already critical of the candidacy of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. the presidency had more to complain about after he announced his running mate this week.
The independent candidate sparked a wave of disparaging comments after announcing attorney and progressive activist Nicole Shanahan as his running mate. The news obviously sent the Democratic National Convention into a tailspin, as reports indicated an emergency call with party members expressing how “disgusted” they were with Kennedy.
“Just after Kennedy announced his choice of Shanahan, the DNC called with elected Democrats in swing states to warn about what Kennedy's bid could mean for Biden's chances of beating Trump twice ,” The Hill reported.

“I'm personally offended and just disgusted by his campaign,” Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) said during the DNC call. “He should be ashamed of himself. He should stop running for president.”
With a rematch between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump looming, Democrats lament that Kennedy is acting as a “spoiler” in the race for the White House, picking up potential votes from Biden and helping to return Trump to office.
“It's a spoiler,” Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. Austin Davis said on the DNC call. “He was recruited into this race by Donald Trump's top supporters.”
“He has no realistic path to victory in Pennsylvania,” Davis added.
The party appears to be trying to connect Kennedy with Trump to discredit his campaign to those who might otherwise vote for Biden. Biden's team launched a website called rfkjrfacts, and it features an image that conflates Kennedy and Trump.
“RFK Jr. is a MAGA-endorsed candidate who is being funded by billionaires to help re-elect Donald Trump,” the site's page reads. “RFK Jr.'s platform is extremely dangerous: he pushes conspiracy theories that divide our country, has made millions of dollars by opposing vaccines, and has a history of anti-Black, anti-LGBTQ and anti-Semitic comments.”
Another video, released by a super PAC called Clear Choice, shows a clip of Kennedy saying he's “proud” that Trump “likes him.”
“Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Nicole Shanahan only have one chance to see the inside of the Oval Office: if Trump wins and invites them to say thank you,” he said. said Matt Bennett, executive vice president of public affairs for the Democratic group Third Way.
In his statement, he called third-party bids for the White House “vanity campaigns.”
Palpable panic for Democrats can also be seen in the left's media crisis. “The View” co-hosts debated Kennedy's potential impact on the Biden campaign with Sara Haines making the now-obligatory Trump connections, while Joy Behar called President John F. Kennedy's nephew a “clown.”

Kennedy defended his choice for vice president in an interview with NewsNation's Chris Cuomo, saying Shanahan “probably has a higher IQ than almost anyone I've seen in public life today.”

“She's an expert in AI, which we need in government right now. She's an expert in chronic disease, which is probably our biggest problem in this country,” she said, asking why “nobody talks” about the health issues that affect the americans
