But perhaps the most surprising thing is the reaction Gascon receives from the liberals in the community. Historically, these are individuals who have supported restorative justice initiatives. However, as they witness the harmful effects of these policies firsthand, they begin to question Gascon’s approach. Many are now calling for stronger action against criminals and a return to a justice system that holds individuals accountable for their actions.

The pressure is certainly mounting for Gascon. As crime rates rise and even his staunchest supporters begin to waver, the DA will have to decide whether to double down on his current approach or make the necessary changes to restore peace and safety to Los Angeles. Only time will tell which path it chooses, but one thing is clear: the status quo is not working.
