Apparently, President Trump has a very short list, and at the top of it is Senator Tim Scott, a politician who has never bought into the America First, Make America Great Again movement. He has tried to ride the fence, offering occasional support here and there; it's not absolutely awful, but its support always feels conditional and without any real passion or purpose. So, now the question is, did Tim Scott disqualify himself as a potential VP with his latest appearance on ABC News? Many say yes and hope this marks the end of the tired “Scott hype”.
So what happened? Well, Tim Scott is doing what he does best: being a wishy-washy establishment. The truth is, being a member of the GOP swamp is all he knows, and no amount of backtracking or ducking now is going to change that. So when Tim went on ABC News and stood by his statement that the traitor and backbiter Mike Pence did the right thing by certifying a stolen election in 2020, no one should be surprised. This is who Tim Scott is: he's the black, male version of Nikki Haley. Their alliances are with the establishment, and any act that suggests otherwise is as fake as a three dollar bill.
When he asked @JonKarl if he stands by his previous statement that then the Vice President. Pence 'absolutely' did the right thing by certifying 2020 election results, says GOP Sen. Tim Scott: 'The Constitution is clear.' https://t.co/j34avE3DKx pic.twitter.com/OD5yCSZsZ5

Again, this should come as no surprise to anyone. Tim Scott has had some bright moments, but overall he's been an establishment dub since he first burst onto the scene. In fact, we wrote a piece about him last year that rings truer than ever today.
President Trump has delivered his first endorsement since his political resurgence at CPAC, supporting Tim Scott's re-election to the Senate. Scott's career is still almost two years away; He is not expected to face a major primary challenge, and the race itself is unlikely to be close unless Republicans are having a very bad year.
So why the big public endorsement now? A recent Bloomberg article suggest a possible reason:
Donald Trump is telling allies he is strongly considering another run for the presidency in 2024, and close advisers want him to pick someone other than former Vice President Mike Pence for his ticket, according to people familiar with the discussions.
[…]
Trump's advisers have discussed identifying a black or female running mate for his next run, and three of the people familiar with the matter said Pence likely won't be on the ticket.
[…]
[O]n Tuesday, Trump issued a public endorsement for the re-election of South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott. Scott is the only black Republican in the United States Senate.
President Trump may see a team with Senator Scott as his path back to the White House. His advisers no doubt tell him that this would appeal to non-white voters and moderate whites (by proving he's not racist), expand his coalition, and give him an edge over President Biden or (more likely) President Harris.
President Trump should ignore this advice. Senator Scott does not deserve to be the Republican star he is being treated to, and he absolutely does not belong on a Republican presidential ticket.
Since the party was nominally opposed to affirmative action, it is not surprising that the Republican Party practices it more aggressively than any other institution in America. Republicans are mostly white and their leaders are mostly white men. Instead of realizing that there is nothing wrong with this, Republicans have bought into the left's moral framing and are desperate to elevate women, non-white figures, and gays as a way to “prove” that the party is not fanatical.
This is not at all to say that all women and conservative minorities are exaggerated witnesses. South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem would deserve national praise for defying the coronavirus madness even if she were a man. Justice Clarence Thomas would be the best constitutionalist on the Supreme Court right now, regardless of his race.
Tim Scott is not a horrible senator. He's not a stealthy fan of open borders, and he's “conservative enough” on most big issues. Yet again, the question Donald Trump and all other Republicans must ask themselves is this: On merit alone, does Tim Scott deserve the hype he's gotten as the future of the party or a potential running mate Trump? An honest look at his record shows that the answer must be “no.” At critical moments, Scott has repeatedly abandoned conservatives and nationalists to hand victories to globalists and the left, sometimes with lethal consequences.
There is much more to the Tim Scott saga. You can read the entire fascinating piece here:
Don't believe the hype: Tim Scott is not the future of the Republican Party
So did Tim Scott ruin his chances at VP? Well, we sure hope so. These are very difficult times, and when President Trump wins in 2024, he needs to go to DC with a group that has his back 100 percent of the time and isn't aligned with the swamp or afraid to stand up to him . Senator Scott is not that man.
In the past, we've suggested that Sen. JD Vance might be the best of the bunch in the race to be Trump's vice president. Senator Vance has proven to be an America First warrior. He may not have been on the Trump train from the start, but he has more than made up for it after seeing the light of day. Their allegiance and ideology align perfectly with Trump and the America First movement.
Many expect Trump to pick a woman, a black person or a Hispanic as his running mate, operating on the thesis that Trump just needs more diversity points to get over the hump come next fall.
Of course, we will support President Trump regardless of his election. We want Trump to win in 2024 and we want his political revolution to win in the annals of history. Making the right call for the VP is crucial to both desires. And in Revolver's opinion, simply choosing a “diverse” candidate is not the way to go. Instead, the answer is clear: Among the names still being considered for the role of Donald Trump's running mate, Senator JD Vance leads the pack.
There are more good reasons for President Trump to pick Senator Vance. If you're interested, you can read our full article describing them here:
