The corporate media's insistence on identity politics prompted Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to be questioned six times over the former president's use of a term “people … they say listen to Germany nazi”.

Where there should be unity on pillars of the Republican platform like limits on government overreach with differences over how the principles are applied, discord has been sown in the GOP presidential primaries by treating political opponents as rival factions.
One such example played out during DeSantis' recent “Meet the Press” interview, where NBC News host Kristen Welker repeatedly challenged the Florida executive on using the word “vermin” to part of former President Donald Trump.
“You bring up former President Donald Trump,” Welker began when the opportunity arose. “So let me ask you about the GOP front-runner. Mr. Trump is campaigning on the idea of ​​retribution. He's vowing to imprison his political enemies, if re-elected. He's also targeted some of his political opponents as “vermin,” language that people, frankly, across the political spectrum say refers to Nazi Germany. Do you think that kind of language is presidential?”
Measured in his initial response, the seething governor tried to present his perceived stark difference with the president. “Well, I think even beyond that, the issue is why are you running? Are you running on your personal issues? Are you running on the issues of the American people? And I'm running on the issues of the American people.” .
When he promised to end the weaponization of the federal government and employ a single standard of justice, Welker rejected the premise by invoking denials from the same parties accused of abusing their authority and returned to the “token” issue.
“Governor, as you know, DOJ officials would reject the idea that it was weaponized. But let me ask you about my original question, the use of the word 'fair'. Are you comfortable with that term?”
“But are you comfortable with this mandate, Governor?” he repeated as DeSantis began to answer.
“Let me, let me say to the DOJ, well, first of all, I'm responsible for my — what I say. And I say things differently. But the DOJ and the FBI . . .” he tried before she interjected once more, “But are you comfortable with that term?”

Welker asked twice more, “So you condemn the use of the word 'vermin'?” asking DeSantis to clarify: “I don't use the term. The NBC News host's fixation on Trump's use of the word had been echoed by other corporate media figures in November after the president said it during his Veterans Day speech. “Now, a comment from Trump over the weekend sent the media completely into a tailspin.” said Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham played clips of MSNBC hosts associating the president with Adolf Hitler.
“Now, according to Grabien media, CNN and MSNBC have compared Trump to Hitler only 12 times so far,” he noted. “Interestingly, they haven't labeled the anti-Semitic wolves on college campuses with the same pejorative.”
Despite Welker's efforts, DeSantis again focused on contrasting his candidacy with Trump's, continuing: “More important than the choice of words, why are you running? If he's running for personal payoff, that's not going to get us where we need to be as a country. You have to run for the American people and their problems, not your own personal problems, and that's a distinction between us. I'm people-centered, I'm people-centered what they want done for this country in a positive direction.”
“I'm the ship, but ultimately,” the governor recalled, “it's not about me.”
