DeSantis exposes Senate border deal as a 'sham', says Biden, 'wants to let people in'

-

As he led his legislature toward meaningful action, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis called the president's proposed border deal a “sham.”

“He wants to let people in.”

President Joe Biden's latest example of putting politics before people left him dazzling Americans in a new way about their crisis on the southern border. While trying to regain long-lost favorability by shifting blame to the GOP, DeSantis stopped the swing with a reality check on the Senate deal and actions Biden could take unilaterally.

In less than two minutes, the US governor explained how “Stopping the invasion at our border is a matter of will,” as he blasted the latest proposal as little more than a green light for foreigners.

“This border deal is a farce. Joe Biden already has the authority to close the border. He could declare it a national emergency,” DeSantis argued. “He could stop the invasion cold if he wanted to. He doesn't want to. He wants to let people in.”

On Friday, Biden issued a statement on proposed Senate legislation tied to funds for Ukraine, saying it would be “the toughest and fairest set of reforms to secure the border that we've ever had in our country.”

After years of denying the border was open, the president now announced he would have the authority close it “when it overflows,” unless Border Patrol agents would still be required to allow hundreds of people into the country to lower averages. without stopping the flow.

“Now, this so-called deal is meant to give him tools so he can actually close the border. The reality is he's giving the green light to up to 5,000 illegals every day. That's more than 1.8 million over the course of a year that they're codifying into law saying that's an adequate number of illegal entries,” DeSantis detailed.

“I think the appropriate number of illegal entries is zero,” argued the Tory statesman.

“And our policy should reflect that, that we don't want people coming to this country illegally,” he continued. “We should not be giving benefits and work permits to people who have come to this country illegally.”

The Sunshine State's governor has long been with Texas to secure the border after sending law enforcement officials from Florida to help as early as 2021. That same year, DeSantis began the process of restarting the Florida State Guarda military force that, unlike the National Guard, could not be controlled by Washington, DC

Now, as Republican-led states across the country have pledged their National Guard to be ready if Biden tries to usurp Texas' sovereignty after a vacated Supreme Court ruling on wiretapping, the Florida legislature had DeSantis. support to move to invoice which would allow the governor to deploy the State Guard to the border under an existing emergency management assistance pact.

Highlighting the disparate use of his executive powers, DeSantis concluded in part: “So Biden has the authority. He doesn't have the will. He doesn't have the political philosophy to really want to solve the problem. Meanwhile, the country continues to weaken and the problem will continue to persist. So this is a question of leadership. It is a question of will.”
