It goes on to detail how Jewish students were subjected to harassment, physical obstruction, intimidation and harassment by the camp's occupants. Even within this hostile environment, two of the students behind the lawsuit identified themselves as Jewish, shedding light on the anti-Semitic incidents they experienced.
talking with The New York Post, one of the students, known as “Tim Doe,” bravely recounted the offensive and anti-Semitic signs that were brandished during the protests. He mentioned particularly disturbing skunk posters with the Star of David. “In one case,” he recalled, “I was walking with my non-Jewish friends when I was singled out for wearing my yarmulke. A pro-Palestinian protest leader came up to our group and confronted me. He pointed at me. , yelling that I had to move, and when I refused, he started pushing me away.”
The Columbia University camp attracted worldwide attention as students and even faculty participated in a weeks-long campus takeover.
The disruptive protests forced classes to move online and severely limited access to campus facilities just as students were preparing for final exams.
Ultimately, Columbia University was forced to cancel its graduation ceremony, causing significant disruption and frustration for the 36,000 students who complied with the university's rules and were simply trying to continue their education.
The class-action lawsuit highlights the real harm these law-abiding students suffer.
He contends that the actions of his peers, faculty, and outside activists, with the support and encouragement of Ocasio-Cortez, Omar, and Bowman, impeded the educational progress of those who chose to abide by university guidelines and engage with their academic goals.
It is worth noting that during the height of the anti-Israel protests at Columbia University, Ocasio-Cortez, Omar and Bowman expressed their support for these demonstrations.
