The former personal assistant of left-wing Hollywood star Robert De Niro has won her lawsuit against the temperamental actor.
As previously reported, former assistant Graham Chase Robinson sued De Niro and his production company for $12 million in damages for the “emotional distress and reputational damage” he suffered working with him for $300,000 a year.
She filed the lawsuit after the company first preemptively sued her after her resignation in 2019, alleging that she “binge-watched Netflix shows while at work, charged for personal meals and groceries at the company credit card and improperly “used his employer’s funds for his personal benefit, including De Niro’s frequent flyer miles,” according to People magazine.

According to the Associated Pressjurors in Manhattan federal court on Thursday found the actor’s company liable for $1.2 million for “subjecting her to a toxic work environment.”
“Although the jury found that De Niro was not personally responsible for the abuse, it said that his company, Canal Productions, engaged in gender discrimination and retaliation against former assistant Graham Chase Robinson and would have to make two payments of $632,142,” AP reported.
The jury also found in Robinson’s favor by tossing out the company’s lawsuit against her.
Robinson was moved by the rulings.
“Not only did Ms. Robinson win her case against Canal, but the jury completely vindicated Ms. Robinson by finding that De Niro’s claims against her were without merit,” said her attorney, David Sanford. The daily beast in a statement.
Ironically, De Niro was just as pleased.
“He’s acquitted. He’s not responsible for anything he was charged with. There’s a modest award against the company. But, you know, they were looking for $12 million,” his lawyer, Richard Schoenstein, told the AP.
All of this comes about a week after De Niro lost his temper in court, calling out Robinson over his allegations that his behavior and requests while working together had become abusive.

“Graham Chase Robinson [the assistant] “He watched with his lawyers as De Niro’s anger rose as attorney Andrew Macurdy dragged him through the allegations his client made about De Niro’s behavior toward Robinson while tending to his needs, big and small. , from 2008 until his resignation in 2019,” The Guardian reported.
Asked by Robinson’s attorney in court if he had ever called her, De Niro confessed to part of it.
“Yeah, well, I scolded her,” he said, according to People magazine.
This he certainly did, according to the allegations, which are that he had called her “petulant”, “snippy”, “ph” and “f-king spoiled brat”.
“I raised my voice. I don’t scream. You want to argue with that? That’s something I don’t do,” De Niro added while in court.
He was also asked if he had ordered Robinson to scratch his back, but this time he cried.
“Everything you’re trying to do to me is bullshit! Shame on you, Chase Robinson!” he shouted in court, after which he later apologized for the outburst.

In her lawsuit against him, Robinson also claimed “that the actor [had] directed sexist comments at her, assigned her “stereotypically feminine job duties that were inconsistent with her job title,” and paid her less than male employee Dan Harvey,” People notes.
De Niro didn’t like the mention of Harvey, his personal trainer.
“What does Dan Harvey have to do with her? God knows why he felt he should do the same.” [salary]. Dan Harvey has been here for 40 years. He’s been with me, he’s left his family, he’s never complained. Is she jealous of him?” she told the court.
“Give me a break with this nonsense… For her to use it is so ridiculous,” he added, referring to her claims of a gender pay gap.
He was equally outraged when asked if he had sometimes urinated while talking to Robinson.
“Give me a break with this nonsense. Is that what you’re all here for?” he said in typical De Niro fashion.
Robinson also claimed that he had called her twice during a family member’s funeral, but she responded by arguing that she did not know he had been at a funeral.
According to The New York Times, Robinson further claimed that De Niro had treated her like an “office lady” by making her wash the sheets.
