Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis may be out of the presidential race, but he's not retreating from the issues plaguing the nation.
At a news conference Monday, DeSantis spoke out in favor of four constitutional reforms to fix much of what has gone so wrong in America.

“The incentives are designed to produce poor results,” the governor said. “The incentives are designed for more debt. The incentives are designed to put politicians first. The incentives are designed to have a separate ruling class.”
“Washington will never reform,” DeSantis said. “It will require us to work in our individual states using the tools that were given to us by the Founding Fathers so that we can take power away from DC and give it back to the American people.”
To that end, DeSantis announced, the Florida Legislature will “certify a series of amendments (constitutional reforms under Article 5 of the Constitution) that will control Washington and that will hold Washington accountable.”
First on the list is “term limits for members of Congress.”
The second reform would require a balanced budget at the federal level.
“Right now, the incentives are to put things on the credit card,” DeSantis said. “This is the path of least resistance. That's how these guys stay in office longer. And who ends up with the bill? Well, it's the future generations.”
The third amendment would give the president of the United States a blanket veto.
“Just think how much pork you could vet out there,” DeSantis noted. “You could save hundreds of billions of dollars just by vetoing that line.”
“Finally,” the Republican leader said, “we want an amendment that says very simply that Congress shall make no law with respect to the citizens of the United States that does not also apply to members of Congress themselves.”
“They shouldn't be able to exempt themselves,” DeSantis said as the crowd cheered. “They should not be able to function as a separate ruling class.”
In a separate video, he summarized the reforms Florida is certifying.
“The founding fathers never imagined that we would have a separate ruling class governing itself separately and apart from the people,” he said. “They never imagined they would add this kind of debt. And they really never imagined that people would want to be in Congress for thirty or forty years.”
Proud to announce that I am working with the FL Legislature to certify the following four constitutional amendments under Article V:

During the press conference, the governor argued that these proposed amendments are supported “across the board” by the American people.
“Republican, Democrat, independent, male, female, black, white, it doesn't matter,” he said: People believe in term limits and a balanced budget. They agree that Congress should not be able to “opt out of the laws.”
“So these are very good reforms,” DeSantis said. “He's using the tools the founding fathers gave us to be able to take back this government for We the People,” DeSantis said. “Because in our current course, I don't think you're going to see very good changes without changing the incentives.”
Florida's bold move under DeSantis' leadership had many in X wishing he would return to the 2024 race for the White House.
“DeSantis proposes constitutional amendments this morning while Maga explains how they're going to lose the general election because Taylor Swift's boyfriend won a football game,” one user commented.
