DC Suddenly Realizes Migrant Crisis Is a Crisis, Asks Federal Govt for Help

In the wake of a growing migrant crisis on the US-Mexico border, the District of Columbia has finally realized the severity of the situation and is asking the federal government for help.

For months, the US has seen a surge of migrants, mostly from Central American countries, attempting to cross the border into the US. The influx has overwhelmed border authorities, causing a humanitarian crisis that has seen thousands of children separated from their families and living in overcrowded detention centers.

The situation has been made worse by the lack of resources and funding to address the crisis. As a result, the District of Columbia has finally stepped up to the plate and is asking the federal government for assistance.

In a statement released earlier this week, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser said that the city is “deeply concerned” about the situation and is calling on the federal government to provide additional resources and funding to address the crisis. Bowser also said that the city is “prepared to work with the federal government to ensure that all appropriate resources are brought to bear in order to address the needs of those seeking refuge in our nation.”

The statement follows a recent announcement from the US Department of Health and Human Services that the agency will be sending additional resources to the border to help with the crisis. However, it remains to be seen if this will be enough to address the problem.

The DC government is also calling on the federal government to provide more funding for legal aid, mental health services, and other resources to help the migrants. The city is also asking Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform that would provide a pathway to citizenship for those who have already entered the US.

The migrant crisis is a humanitarian one that needs to be addressed. The District of Columbia is now calling on the federal government to provide the resources and funding necessary to help those in need and to create a long-term solution to the crisis.
