Country singer Luke Combs steps in in a BIG way when single mom fined $250,000 for handmade swag

-

Country music superstar Luke Combs has hit back after one of his fans was fined $250,000 for selling handmade items bearing his likeness, stepping in to help the struggling single mother.

The award-winning artist woke up Wednesday to news from the distraught fan, a Florida woman named Nicol Harness who, after being released from hospital for congenital heart failure, learned she had been affected with a massive financial penalty by a federal judge in Illinois in a lawsuit filed by Combs.

Harness told local news outlet WFLA that after going to his concert in Tampa, he decided to start selling Combs-themed glasses on his Amazon online store, using artwork he bought online to create glasses that he sold for $20 each, earning a total of $380 from the sale of 18 items.

“It's very stressful. I don't have any money to pay my bills,” she said. “I just want this to be resolved. I didn't mean to hurt Luke Combs. I stopped selling the glass. I pulled it down. I just don't understand.”

His Amazon account was also frozen and thousands of dollars of his money confiscated. “I sent so many messages to Amazon asking for answers, but I couldn't figure it out,” Harness said, adding that she later discovered an email from Combs' attorney in her spam folder for an account that rarely used, giving it 21 days. to answer. The October email came while she was in the hospital.

But there is a happy ending to the story, as Combs apologized and took her out of the dress after he realized the situation. Posting a video on TikTok and Instagram explaining that the legal action Harness was dragged into was aimed at large-scale counterfeiters looking to cash in on her name and likeness.

“I woke up at 5 o'clock in the morning to go to the bathroom and the first thing I saw was this: a woman being sued for $250,000. I spent the last two hours trying to make it right, trying to figure out what's going on because I don't I was fully and completely aware of it,” Combs said in the video.

“So we have a company that goes after people, just supposedly big corporations that operate internationally, that make millions and millions of dollars making counterfeit shirts, things of that nature, running illegal businesses,” he explained. “And apparently this woman, Nicol, somehow got involved in this.”

The singer said he spoke with Harness on Wednesday morning. “She told me she was absolutely shocked by this. I'm very apologetic. Talking to her, it honestly hurts me that this is happening, especially on the holidays,” she said.

The singer said she was told the ruling had frozen her Amazon account, depriving her of $5,500 that was frozen to go towards the $250,000 court order she was ordered to pay.

“I'll double that today by sending him $11,000 so he doesn't have anything to worry about,” he said. “She should never have been involved in anything like this. No fan should be involved in anything like this.”

Combs also said she would be adding a glass to her official merchandise website with the proceeds going to “Nicol and her family to try and help with her medical bills.”
