Country music legend sidelined with emergency quadruple bypass surgery [VIDEO]

Country music artist Mark Chesnutt, a stalwart of the honky-tonk scene for more than three decades, has been hospitalized due to a major health emergency that led to emergency heart surgery. Representatives for the 60-year-old singer announced on Instagram that he was admitted for the procedure on Wednesday, saying he “suffered a heart health issue over the weekend that hospitalized him on Sunday evening, June 16.” Chesnutt subsequently underwent emergency quadruple bypass surgery.

Details about Chesnutt's recovery after the surgery have not been released, only the cancellation of upcoming concert dates has been announced. Fans have been urged to hold on to their tickets and give the 'Too Cold at Home' star time to recover.

Expressing his disappointment, Chesnutt conveyed, “It is with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of my upcoming shows,” while expressing gratitude to his family, friends, band and fans for their understanding, prayers and support . He concluded: “I hope to see you all again soon at a honky tonk near you.”

During the 1990s, Chesnutt became a mainstay on the country music Billboard charts, scoring 20 top ten hits and eight No. 1s on eight albums, including his renditions of “Brother Jukebox,” “I 'll Think of Something”, “It Sure”. It's Monday” and “I Don't Want to Miss a Thing.” Known for his neo-traditionalist style, the Texas native has received two Country Music Awards in recognition of his musical contributions.
